Science Lab Visit

Today, after lunch, 1L went to the high school science lab to use the microscopes.  One of the high school teachers kindly set up 10 microscopes around the room, each with a different insect.  We got to see the insects so closely and notice things that we have never been able to see with just our eyes.  One of our favourite things to look at on each insect was their compound eyes.  They are amazing!  The high school teacher commented on our wonderful behaviour and how well we listen to our teacher.  This made Mrs Coates very proud.  It was a fantastic afternoon!

We have been learning about the parts of an insect.  Here is a song that we listen to in class that helps us remember them all and also makes us laugh:

  1. 1L look like they had fun in the science lab. You are so lucky that Mrs Coates organised this special lesson. Insects are interesting and different.

  2. Dear Hayden's Grandma,

We think insects are cool because they have a head, a thorax and an abdomen. We think their eyes are very interesting. We did an experiment where we put straws in a tube and looked through the end. We got to see like an insect sees with their compound eyes.

When you read with us we think you are very good at helping. You are very kind to us.

    Have a great day!
